First comes love
Second comes marriage
And Then came Sophie in a baby carriage
Then she started crawling
Followed by some Walking
And Then came a head wound…
Sophie was taken by Mom to the ER from daycare yesterday.  She slipped and hit her head on a table while retrieving snacks.   No stitches, the doctor used glue, and thinks there may be a scar.   Sophie is a good spirits, but Mom and Dad are sad to know that she was hurt.

On 01/24/2010, 3:10pm,

Chris went out into the city to run some errands.  While driving away from the intersection of 16th and Portrero, he heard 7-8 gunshots.  He looked around and saw people running, but was unable to really comprehend where the shots were coming from.  The Volvo did its job by driving away as fast as possible.

This event really troubled Chris and over the following week he looked to the internets (uhmm Google and Real time search) to better understand what had happened.  He found the responses lacking and still does not know what to do about the shooting on Sunday.

Sophie Milestones This Week:

1.  I am now 3 drawers tall.

2.  On Sunday, my dad removed a crib wall so that I could climb in and out.   The 1st night was a little rough, because I fell out onto the ground.  On Monday night however, I promptly put myself to bed at 7:10 pm by announcing during the middle of a story, “Good - bye” and then crawling to crib to sleep.  I did not get out until the following morning at 7:00 am.

3.  The size of my smile is only rivaled by the depth of my eyes.

Sophie has always had a sense of rhythm, but recently she took her love of music to the next level:  Irish Whistle.   I was surprised two weeks ago when she discovered the flute in the drawer and knew that she needed to blow into it.   I think she picked up this trick at the new DayCare?

I heard a joke last week at Sophie’s Day Care:  Real Estate is soo expensive in San Francisco that people have a tendency to buy an infinite amount of 20 dollar gadgets small enough to cram away in tiny holes of a tight living space and just only useful enough to distract people from their otherwise “house” poor lives.

Well, @cranleycasa, while we might have a few too many gadgets, we tend to notice our expanding waist lines more.  I mean, we really have a habit of finding and trying some of the most over the top tasting and priced treats offered on the west coast!   This weekend’s discoveries include:

Three Twins Ice Cream (http://threetwinsicecream.com/) - Organic, earth friendly ice cream shop with a great selection of dairy free flavors!   We tried a scoop of the following:  rice based peppermint (Chris’s Favorite), Cinnamon (Sophie’s favorite), and a great tasting mocha flavor (Danae’s favorite).  This ice cream experience went better than our Humphrey Slocumbe experience a few months ago (www.humphryslocombe.com).

Four Barrel Coffee (http://www.fourbarrelcoffee.com/) -  Really good cup of coffee with excellent service!!!  They have an IOU system, super friendly servers—that I hope reaps them great tips and no abuse (we were a bit short on cash that day)…   1 excellent cup of coffee, 1 good latte, and 1 Maple Bacon doughnut later and we were, how to say, set for our hike on Sunday!

And lastly, the family was famished after the Alemere falls hike/run on Sunday.   We tried a yelp+ rated Taqueria called Little Chihuahua (http://thelittlechihuahua.com/).   This place is also surfing in front the eco-organic curve.  The food and salsas were okay and price comparably to Chipotle.   The tortilla soup was a stand out however, with a great chicken stock broth and plenty of good flavor.  It’s Cranley Casa approved - Ole!
